Baby Dresden - Yellow

I have been quilting the Baby Dresden Quilts on my Bernina 1130.  It takes awhile to get back in the quilting mode.  I have about 5 more small quilts that I will do on my DSM.

I used a yellow print with birds and a yellow stripe for the binding.

Our Saturday bee group, Undercover Quilters, went on a retreat to Phenix, VA this past week for a couple of days.  It was very relaxing - no big agenda - a lovely quiet setting with our meals served on site.  I didn't get a lot of sewing accomplished but had a great time. I didn't take even one picture.  Brought the wrong charger for my phone and never thought about a camera.

This afternoon near sunset  - the sun, which has been absent around here for a few days, is highlighting the tops of the trees across the street.
Tomorrow is Table of Grace so it will be all cooking tomorrow!

Quick Quilt

I bought a cute panel  a few weeks ago at the Lady Bug shop in Wendell.  It's Noah's Jungle from Northcott fabrics.  It took only an afternoon to make a small child's quilt 49 x 49".

After Bible Study this morning, our group went out for lunch to celebrate a couple of birthdays.
It was a  beautiful warm day today and I spent a little time outside this afternoon trimming shrubs.  Then this evening  - a beautiful sunset.  The best things in life are free.

Stitcher's Garden Layout

Last Week
We received a couple of pages of sketchy directions for putting the blocks together.  They are sewn in sections.  The center will be about 30" wide and the two outer rows will each be 16" wide.
I need to cut some borders for the outer rows, and make some pieced borders, before I  can continue.

Updated Version

Yesterday
It took a friend's visit yesterday to get me started sewing this together.  She brought her blocks and fabrics and we both got a start choosing borders and sewing them to various blocks.
(Her's is going to be gorgeous - black and white backgrounds and Kaffe Fassett prints)

Today
I replaced the border on one of my blocks as it stood out like a sore thumb. It took all afternoon and into the evening to get this far. It's kind of a HOT MESS to use one of my daughter's phrases.
It is 62 x 70" and it weighs a lot because of the batting behind the appliques and the layers of applique.
The pattern calls for several borders but I don't want to make it much bigger so will have to ponder that for a little.

Baby Dresden V

I finished the quilting this afternoon and will add some red binding.

.

Anxious to quilt another one while I'm in quilting mode on the Bernina.

Only thing is ...... my older sister got me interested in watching Monarch of the Glen on Netflix.  It's set in a large manor house in Scotland in fairly recent history.  Very entertaining but it's hard to watch just one episode at a time.

Sixteen Patch

I love how this little quilt turned out.  I used and open Baptist Fan pattern and it was much easier than the one I used for the Star and Geese quilt.  It is 60 x 72" and made of shirt plaids.  I used 2" squares so each block is only 6" square.  Maybe I'll make one using 2.5" squares next time.  I have some blue binding leftover from the Hidden Stars so I will use it for this quilt also.

Another mini book report/review.  I finished The Secret History by Donna Tartt.  I had put it down for awhile to read some library books.  I like the book as a whole but the subject matter (don't know how to put it but it kind of) hurt my heart.
I read the Little Friend, which I loved, right after I saw her interview on CBS Good Morning.
I have her latest book, Goldfinch, but I am saving it for when I really need a good book to read.

It's Been Awhile ........

It's been quilt awhile since I've quilted anything on the Bernina. (I think I did a couple of wall hangings last May).  I do enjoy quilting on my DSM and feel I have more control than with the Crown Jewel.  I plan on quilting all the Baby Dresdens on it.

I have been reading off and on this winter.  I recently finished Longbourn by Jo Baker. It is the story of the servants who worked for the gentry in the Pride and Prejudice novel.  Interesting to hear the servants stories.  I really enjoyed it.
