A Full Day

Finally some quilting!

I did about half of the quilt this afternoon before I had to call it a day.

I made several star blocks this morning before I met with friends at church at 9AM.

We met to make bread for our new "Bread of Life" ministry.  We made 22 loaves of Whole Wheat Oatmeal Quick Bread.  It is a very simple recipe with just 7 ingredients.  We have four large ovens that hold 3 loaves each so we were done baking at 11AM.  We also made one loaf for us which we enjoyed while waiting for the loaves to cool.
Two of the gals wrapped and bagged them while the rest of us cleaned up the kitchen. Three men will will deliver them this afternoon.
We plan to meet again in two weeks to bake again.

Oatmeal Whole Wheat Quick Bread

1 cup rolled oats, grind in a food processor
1 cup whole wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 Tablespoons honey
1 Tablespoon salad oil
1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.  Combine dry ingredients in large bowl. In separate bowl dissolve honey in salad oil and add milk.  Stir into dry ingredients and put into loaf pan that has been sprayed with Pam.  Bake at 450 degrees for 20 minutes.  Remove from pan and cool.
We sprinkled the batter with a few oats before baking.

So this afternoon after a short break,  I started the paintbox quilt.  And that for me is a full day!

Lake Weekend

Daniel, Ben and Al came up to the lake to help me clean the porch and yard.  Al even painted the windows on the storage shed.  The temperature was in the seventies and the sky was perfectly blue.

As we were eating lunch - we had a visitor to one of the trees down by the lake.

We wondered at first if it was an eagle.  It was big but not eagle big also it had a white breast.
He/She had a large fish about 12 - 14" long. Turns out it was an Osprey and he/she (both sexes have the same markings) perched there for about five hours devouring his catch.

We also had time to play games and eat out on the porch.
We taught Ben how to play Catan (he won the first game he played).  Go Ben!
Daniel took this picture in the evening.

I did finish the binding on Barbs Barn Quilt #1 while watching my usual Sunday night PBS shows.

I stayed up through Monday and met with the realtor - so it will listed sometime next week.

Bunkhouse - Once in Blue Moon - Top Finished

Finally this top is finished.  Decided to call it Once in a Blue Moon.  It is 56 x 72".
Hopefully one day I'll take a better picture of it.

I made some shadow half moons in the borders.

Now to finish the churn dash quilt top so I can move on to something new. Or quilt some of the tops I have already finished.

Bunkhouse String Squares

I added two more rows of blocks and added a dark blue inner border.  It is now 47 x 65".
Planning to make string borders  - most;y blues about 4.5" wide and diagonally striped corners.

Short trip up to the lake  - all is well there.  Planning a weekend soon.  Daniel and Ben said they would come and help me clean the screened porch.  Going to make some baked spaghetti and a glazed pound cake tomorrow to take when we go.

Rainy Day - Table Runner

I have so many 1.5" strips left over from the quilt I made to use up the leftover strips from previous projects....... etc.  I had been wanting to use the Cosmic Stars pattern that I bought at Ladybug awhile back.  It is designed as a quilt pattern for 2.5" strips but I used 1.5" strips for the background.  I like the way it turned out and 3 blocks make just the right size for my kitchen table.
I worked on it for a an hour before I went to Sit and Sew and then completed it this afternoon.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It rained all day today and I was happy because I didn't have to water newly planted tree and shrubs!

The Sun emerged about 6 PM.

The field next door ready for planting.

I love all the shadows and strips of sunlight at this time of day.  And it is always so much more enjoyable to see after a day of much needed rain.
