Baby Quilt Finished - Molly's Graduation

Just before I left for New York I quilted this free form star baby quilt on my DSM.
It was the first quilt I had done on the Bernina in quite awhile.  It's 48 by 48" so it didn't take too long. This morning I put on the binding.

This is the cute backing fabric.
My daughter is giving it to a friend for her baby shower.

The lobby of the building where Molly had her office at RPI.  We were there to attend a breakfast honoring the ISE Masters and Doctorate Graduates on Friday.  How about all those half square triangles. (Molly also sews and has made several quilts - her under grad was in Textiles at NCSU)

Graduation Day - 8:15 AM - 53 degrees - threatening rain!

9:15AM - Fortunately Molly received her degree at 9:45!

Happy Day! Ready for a warm, dry room and lunch!

Quilting Progress

Late Sunday afternoon I decided to attend to my quilting.  I only had three rows to go.
I started making this Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt in late 2016 - it is 88" square.

The blocks used as part of the backing came from a set of blocks I won one Christmas at Capital Quilter's Guild.  The colors match up fairly well with the En Provence colors and the blocks sizes varied a bit so it was a great use for them.
I haven't taken the time to trim it yet.

Actually my sewing table was loaded with stuff from the den as was the dining room table.
Today I cleared the sewing table and most of the items, except pictures,  have been returned to the den, or disposed of one way or another.

I made binding from the same magenta as the stars.

Up next on the Crown Jewel ---------

Dawn's Early Light - will have to think a little more about the quilting before I tackle it!

Two Finished

I finally finished the binding on two patriotic donation quilts before I left for the beach.
This is brighter than it looks in this picture.

I used the same plaid on the back as in the borders.

I used up some of my patriotic odds and ends of fabric here.
Looks much better once I added the dark  navy binding.

Used a few of my leftover blocks to add to the backing.

Our friend and hostess, Carole, is holding up one of the two quilts of valor tops that she was working on.  She will add another border to make it large enough for their program.  Her guilds in the Myrtle Beach area are very active in making Quilts of Valor.

Machines at rest --- Taking a lunch break on the porch on a lovely beach day.
===========================
Have had the nicest young men here putting in carpet today.
They have been friends for 18 years and work so well together.
Friendly, kind and respectful.
Made my day!
