Double Nine Patch

Started in 2009 - I finished quilting this quilt.  I will trim it and hopefully find the avocado Kona fabric that matches the inner border.  I plan to use it for the binding.  I keep my solid fabrics together( fingers crossed)

I have noticed this truck behind the old country store/gas station/ATM machine.  I stop there now and then to use the ATM.  It is at a very busy crossroads.

As I was coming home from visiting a friend the other evening, I pulled into their back drive to get a picture.  They have planted flowers in the back end also a sweet potato vine under the hood.
The store is known as Barnes Store - so I guess by the writing on the door that this truck served the store at one time.
Always makes me happy to see something like this,

Catching Up

This is the Indian Beads top that is ready to quilt.  I have been looking for a backing, I have one piece that is large enough but still hope to find one I like better.

Not the best picture but I was on a roll with these blocks that I won at Pine Tree.
I had enough blocks with some I made to make 3 child-size quilt tops.

Made the backings for each of them too.
They are each 48 by 48".

Non quilt sewing!

Our church Community Day is coming up September 7.  The past couple of years a few of our talented crafty, artsy gals have had a Craft Booth.
I was asked to do a sewing evening to make soup bowl cozies.
My practice cozy went pretty well.  We had a good turn out of sewers and helpers.
Another group is making soup to sell!

I have been sewing dog bandanas and soup cozies in my spare time.

Finishing Things

Quilted this child's donation quilt in late June.

Loaded this nine patch quilt that I made years ago and it was layered too.
A friend told me how to load it on the long arm.  I have only done a couple of rows on it.
I need to finish it so that I can quilt the Indian Beads Quilt for a wedding gift.

I finished hand sewing the binding for this quilt so I could put it on this bed for the Fourth!

I was also able to machine sew the bindings on the patriotic and childs donation quilts.

Scrappy Squares Sewing

This morning I went to Sit & Sew at Ladybug.  We had a great time and went for lunch at the Mexican Restaurant just behind the store.
I had a plan to go to Home Depot to pick up a window a/c unit for the little house but...after dawdling around awhile I went to the sewing room.
I finished adding the sashing to the triangle blocks.   I added it to two sides of all 80 blocks.

Here is the progress a few days later - it is going together better than I thought it would.

Of course  - a little hiccup on the last quarter- an upside down row!
Just a little un -sewing.

Finally the center is finished. I am in the process of finding borders for it.

I like the way all the triangles (2560) radiate out from the center.
