In late summer, I cut out lots of these blocks so that I would have an easy sewing project to take to bee etc. I cut out more little color squares today so I can finish up the ones I have already cut.
Take off the colored balls - found a missed gift in the tree!
Pack all the ornaments in used wrapping tissue.
Box them up with the stockings and tree skirt.
Remove the tree top star - John and I bought it the first year we married - and it has been on the tree every year for 55 years. I wanted to use a bow for the tree top one year but that was quickly voted out! Another year I brought home a mercury glass spire but that stayed in the box! I guess it's an omen that in 55 years all the lights are original and they all still light.
Some of our lights on the pre-lit tree are not working so I am taking them off before I put it away. It took me about two hours to get the first set off but by evening I had removed four sets. I have 2 more to go! I have a lot of respect for the person who puts them on as they were very nicely and securely put on.

Really like the squares quilt. I think the strong black/white borders balance the bright colors nicely.
/All i can say is you have a lot of patience to take off those lights.
Enjoyed yesterday.
