Late Fall Sewing and Thanksgiving

The  door into my sewing room.

Behind the door to my sewing room.
A  friend, who had never been in my sewing room, was fascinated by all the stuff hanging there.
And to be honest I was kind of embarrassed at the mess.  Anyway - later I looked through it and I found this.

One of the quilt tops  - hanging there!
I have absolutely no recollection of making it.
It is 81 x 90".  Maybe I thought I'd use it as a quilt back or something.
Anyway - we'll see.

Continuing on with my donation and comfort quilts.
This top is 60 by 72.

A very rainy day

lots of preparation

lots of cutters

Lots of mess to clean up!
Great way to spent a rainy way!

This is another small to that I finished.  I had made some of the blocks last year and sewed them together.

The blocks are seven inches and the top is 42 by 49"

 and ready to be quilted.

                                                               My Thanksgiving Day Crew

It was a beautiful day and we ate out on the porch and the deck.

As we were taking pictures, my son in law, Vince, got a text from someone of pictures of their Thanksgiving celebration.  None of us recognized anyone in the pictures but we replied and sent our pictures.  We had a few laughs and they congratulated the couple holding the baby for being responsible and wearing masks. In the end - we told them we were looking forward to seeing their Christmas pictures.

Funny what a transposed number can lead to - it was fun.

Old Projects - Sewing Along

I made nine more snowball blocks this morning.  I had assembled them while watching TV one evening.
I had a bunch of foam plates that had gotten scrappy ( a little dented) from being moved around in the cupboard.  So I arranged each block on a plate and stacked them.  Everything stayed in place and all I had to do was sew.  Perfect for these small 4.5" blocks.
And I can reuse the plates for the same purpose.

I also sewed some of my little black and white blocks together in groups of four. Then cut out a few more black blocks.  This will probably be a fairly small quilt as I am surely getting tired of these blocks.  They are simple to sew but don't hold my interest too long.

I wanted to get a couple of projects ready to take to the beach for some easy sewing there.  I made up 2 kits for donation quilts -  One for veteran's hospice unit and one for the church where one of the bees meets.  I don't know how much sewing will be accomplished as we do lots of game playing too.

New Projects

It's not as though I don't have any number of projects in the works but I just had to start something new to sew on for sewing get together days.
I've never made a churn dash block and I also want to make a blue and white quilt so.....
The little snowball blocks are just the results of a box overflowing with two inch squares.
Have no idea where they will end up.

An interesting note - while waiting for our table at Cheesecake factory for Emily's birthday dinner Friday evening - Shelly and I discovered we have the same eyeglasses prescription.  She has on my glasses and

I have on hers.

Two Quilts Finished and an Angel-versary

Yesterday was John's 2nd Angel-versary.  This picture was taken when he was stationed in Okinawa in 1955.  Our grandson, Evan, who is about the same age as John was them, resembles him, especially the smile.  Tonight we are having a family get together to celebrate him and all he meant to us.

Well this is the jelly roll quilt that I made at Pine Tree stay and play earlier this month.  It is 62 x 72" and will go to the Durham Veteran's Hospice Unit.

I quilted and bound this little baby quilt too.  I will take it to the Pine Tree meeting next month for their charitable quilts.

I made a few more colorful blocks to add to this quilt and I think it greatly improves how it looks.  It still needs lots more though.
Tomorrow is Undercover Bee so I can work on more blocks for it then.  The weather guy is predicting a bunch of rain for us so I'd better get out there and get my errands done.

Found at the Lake

While looking for something else, I rediscovered these snowball blocks that I had made up at the lake.
There are 37 - I think I will make more - it looks like it needs some reds.
