Heart Strings - Made in 2013 Finished

This is a picture taken at our Undercover Bee on Saturday.  The lighting is much brighter than on my den floor.  I made it the year John and Gordon passed away - The pattern was called - very appropriately "Heart Strings"

The back
I have sewn the binding on and am in the process of sewing it down.
It was quilted by a friend who has a quilting business.

How nice it is to receive that text -
"I have your quilt finished - When can I get it to you?"
Especially since I quilt most of my own.
Carole does a wonderful job and excels at quilting
It is a treat to have her finish one for me.

She also quilted my Red Red Nine Patch quilt and I love that one too.

Whole Lot of Binding Goin' On

Well between yesterday and today - I have done a lot of sewing!

I quilted the inner border on Dawn's Early Light (90 x 90") and made and sewed on red batik binding ( I may regret using the batik when I have to hand sew).

Then I made and sewed a red Stonehenge binding on the 90 X 90" NoName Nine Patch.  I really am bad at names.

Then, since I found the lavender binding for the En Provence I sewed that on too.
 Also a big quilt  - 87x87 inches.

And since this quilt has been resting on my sewing machine case for way too long - I found enough black binding leftover from other projects get it sewn on too.  I remember quilting this last year before I did Ben and Daniel's quilt.  It is 75 by 87".

That is going to be soo much hand sewing!  I need help!
The gal who quilted a couple of quilts for me charges 0.18 per linear inch to hand sew bindings.
At that rate it would be about $250.

For now I'll just add them to the need to sew the binding down pile!!

Stars and Bars Finished

We had a nice cool morning a few days ago and I was able to go out and finish the quilting on this quilt.
I didn't have any binding made so I bought 1.5 yard of navy and made enough binding for all three Patriotic quilt tops.

I used a simple free hand fan design for the quilting and I will donate this to the VA Hospital Hospice Unit in the fall.
Nice to have something finished.

Double Nine Patch Progress - Garden too

A lovely coolish (for NC) day was a good enough excuse for me to sew some more nine patches and add to my blocks.  So far I've managed to stay away from using my usual over indulgence of red  which I find very difficult.  I know I will have some but---- only as accents I hope.

A check on Paul's tomato garden yielded some nice little cucumbers for a sandwich and...

a critter.  Just a baby but still ... Well it wouldn't be a tomato patch without them!

Dawn's Early Light - Bible School

I have three patriotic quilts that I need to quilt so I felt I had to get this quilted.
I can't remember exactly when i put in on the Crown Jewel but it's been quite awhile.  Story of my life when it comes to getting things finished,

I will still need to quilt the red inner border on my Bernina  - stay posted (haha).

OTHER THINGS

We made 36 loaves of bread the other day for the Bread Ministry.
I have to day Kudos to all the talent and hard working guys and gals that transform our fellowship hall each year for Bible School.

This year is a camping theme. Moose on the Loose.

Love this little safe bonfire area.  It even has twinkle lights hidden in it.
The tables have camping lanterns and each room decorated also.
