Myrtle Beach Retreat 2019

Carole

I cannot honestly say how many years Carole has been hosting our little group for a week in Myrtle Beach .
We have a great time together sewing on projects that we bring along, sharing ideas, fabric shopping, playing every game under the sun it seems and eating out or cooking and eating in.
Lots of laughs and some late nights.

This year we had a special treat - we all went to a Quilts of Valor Presentation Ceremony.
It was held at the Veteran's  Cafe in Myrtle Beach. The Quilts of Valor Ceremony was very touching and each quilt is individually presented along with a case to store it in when not in use.

Seven men were welcomed home with a lovey patriotic  quilt.
It was an honor to witness the love and respect shown to these Veterans who have been touch by war.
They served in Vietnam, Korea and one 95 years young gentleman served our country in World War II.
This is a group picture taken after all the quilts were awarded.

The gentleman on the far right received a quilt made by Carole.  He is also a member of the same church that she attends.

This is a very poor picture of a lovely quilt that will be raffled as part of  a fund raiser to be held in April at the Cafe.  The proceeds go help defray the costs of batting and backing fabric for quits etc.

Our Carole is a quilter who now makes almost exclusively Quilts of Valor quilts.
Carole you rock!

Back to Sewing - England Inspired 2

I just love this quilt!

This is the same block! The darks look too dark.

I like the light blocks .

I sewed the top together using all the blocks I had already made.  It will make a nice sized throw quilts to donate.  And I am happy to have one top completed.

February Sewing Continued

The top 8 blocks are from a pattern found in the Quilters Cache.
It is called the Dandy Quilt.
Very easy to make  - I cut out enough for a quilt and plan to take them to the beach retreat.
I also cut out 2" strips in green and neutrals with red in them to make a lap size Sixteen patch quilt.
I probably won't take them as they require and extra cutting step and I think I want to take things that I can just sew and press.

I have wanted to make this baby quilt for ages - so I cut this out last week too.
Can't see sewing this on my featherweight  - so this won't go to the beach either.

And I saw this on Pinterest the other day and - while it is fun to make - it is way to messy with trimming etc, I like the way it looks though.
=======================================
We had a baby baptism Sunday so Lori and I made her little banner last week.
Such a sweet little girl she didn't make a peep during it all

Well - I have really started a lot of new projects since the start of the New Year  - but that's okay and anyway - who's counting - not me!
