Second Cup of Coffee Sewing

One 3 inch block

Seven more

 Three 12 inch blocks.

Now I need another cup of hot coffee before I venture out to do errands and a little birthday gift shopping at the mall.
Emily turns 17 on Monday and we are celebrating with lunch at Gravy tomorrow after church.

Patriotic Crosses Quilted

This week I quilted this quilt that I started last year.

I have put the red binding on and today I washed and dried it.

It is 60 x 72".  I'll put it away to take to the Veteran's Hospital Hospice Unit.

The United Methodist Men had a Pancake and Sausage Supper at Church tonight.  It was perfect weather for it - cold and windy.

Two Quilts Finished and an Angel-versary

Yesterday was John's 2nd Angel-versary.  This picture was taken when he was stationed in Okinawa in 1955.  Our grandson, Evan, who is about the same age as John was them, resembles him, especially the smile.  Tonight we are having a family get together to celebrate him and all he meant to us.

Well this is the jelly roll quilt that I made at Pine Tree stay and play earlier this month.  It is 62 x 72" and will go to the Durham Veteran's Hospice Unit.

I quilted and bound this little baby quilt too.  I will take it to the Pine Tree meeting next month for their charitable quilts.

I made a few more colorful blocks to add to this quilt and I think it greatly improves how it looks.  It still needs lots more though.
Tomorrow is Undercover Bee so I can work on more blocks for it then.  The weather guy is predicting a bunch of rain for us so I'd better get out there and get my errands done.

Found at the Lake

While looking for something else, I rediscovered these snowball blocks that I had made up at the lake.
There are 37 - I think I will make more - it looks like it needs some reds.

Odds and Ends

I started making these blocks while making the patriotic liberated stars.
I took them with me on Thursday when I sewed with C & S.

They helped me arrange them and S gave me the idea to use a little red inner border.
I will make a nice little donation quilt.  It is 48 inches square.

I had this little pieced flannel back that is just the right size for it.  Last year I made several flannel backs  for small quilts from odds and ends.

Rainy Day Activities

Lots and lots of rain today  - so after Bible Study and a Worship Committee meeting at Church - I made a big pot of tea, got out some leftover Christmas cookies from the freezer and sewed all afternoon.

I sewed two rows of the BH mystery quilt.  I am determined I'm going to finish sewing it together.  Not really crazy about it - even though I usually like busy quilts.  I think it's something about the borders around the blocks.
Then I continued working on some liberated star blocks for a patriotic quilt!

Tomorrow is Sit and Sew at Ladybug - I need some border fabric for the jelly roll quilt and some for this one too so I'll see what Joyce has while I'm there.
Happy Sewing.

Triangle Progressing

I wanted to put this away for awhile so before I got the blocks all mixed up again, I decided to sew them together.
This section is 48 blocks and it measures 36 x 48".   I like looking at it on the design wall but I need to move on to something else.

I went to Pine Tree Quilters on Thursday and they had a Stay and Sew after the meeting.  I started a jelly roll quilt with patriotic strips.  I have it pretty much sewn but I will need to add a border for sure.
I hope to complete it and turn it back in at the February meeting.
