Happy Halloween

John and I at a party in Raleigh, NC in 1979.

A little aside  - just before we left the house my brother in law, Cliff showed up at the house for a visit.
We didn't know he was coming. He went to the party with us and we all had a great time dancing and listening to the band.  Cliff loved to sing and play the guitar and he was very good,  The highlight of his evening was when the band had him on stage to do a couple of songs, Country music was his specialty and he rocked it that night!  The family misses both of them.

State Fair

I loved watching the Wacky Wheeler Guy roll up and down in front of the waterfall at Dorton Arena.

Looked like fun to ride but he also provided all the energy to keep it rolling.

Down near the flower show area - Molly and I posed with the walking tree

And Miss DeVine!

Tracey and Mrs. Barrel Monster.

Always need to see the giant pumpkins  We checked out the Flower Exhibits, Hobbies and Crafts, Art, Cake Decorating Contest, Sewing, Stitchery, Canned Goods and Quilts.  They display the quilts on racks like carpets and rugs are sold.  It's hard to get a good picture and the lady flips through them pretty fast.
We ate lots of good Fair Food. The weather was perfect. My feet were so happy when it was time to come home.

Frog Pond Farm

My sister Barb with one of the chickens outside Frog Pond Farm Studio in Little York, NY.

There were lots of frog sculptures.

This huge guy was favorite!  He stands about 18 - 20 ft. tall.
The artists live on a pretty lake nearby and have lots of metal work scenes on their property.  They also have a studio in St. Pauls, NC according to their literature.

Jubilee Quilts

I finished and sewed the labels on these quilts that I will take to three of my nephews who have celebrated their 50th birthdays recently.  Hope to eventually make one for each niece and nephew that  have passed that milestone.

Ribeye

When I pulled into my sister's driveway I thought "Wow - When did she buy that cow statue?"

Turns out Ribeye - I won't tell you why he's named Ribeye - who belongs to my nephew - likes to wander around and is fond anyone who offers him a treat.

Fun in Santa Monica

A walk out on the pier and all that.  Muscle Beach right down the beach.

Just four flights of stairs and across the highway lies the beach.  Does that mean we have to climb back up?
Fortunately fro me there is a ramp that takes you back to the city from the pier.

After enjoying the street performances (lots of break dancing), eating and shopping, Em and I hung out in Starbucks for awhile to wait for Mom & Dad.  Cartoon picture by a street artist who was hanging out at the next table.  Can't figure out how to make it oriented up so will have to tip you head.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
My feet hurt so much I took off my shoes in the car and walked back from our parking space to the hotel bare footed much to the entertainment of the guys who were working outside the pool area.

Enjoying the desert-like foliage.
