Bunkhouse Half Log Cabin Finished

Made from repurposed plaid shirts, it is 72 x 72".  It was the fifth quilt that I finished on the Crown Jewel.  Just quilted with meandering and loops.  I washed it and it is very soft.  A little to long for the clothesline.

I cut way too many strips for the spider web quilt so now I will use them and others to make another string quilt. You can see the one I made in 2012  here .

Today was errand day. I was gone all day  When I got back home with my repaired Bernina and some accessories for the Crown Jewel, there was a package of fabric on the porch. How good is that!

Quilting Machine

In July, just before my birthday, my quilting machine arrived.  We had it installed in the "little house" as we have always called it.  It's just out in the backyard and makes a great place for it.  I can run down there whenever I have a little time to use it.

I have been practicing.  I did 4 small quilts for SafeChild in a meander pattern.  Then graduated to adding loops and stars to the meanering.

This small quilt is done in a pattern that I used a lot on my DSM.
Lots more practice needed.

Stitcher's Garden - August

The focus of the August block was to add piping between the block and the first border and also between the 2nd and 3rd border.  My block turned out a little smaller than it was supposed to be so I will have to adjust when it comes time to stitch the blocks together.

Winter Project Finished

Guess you would call it a fixation but I just couldn't seem to put this project aside.  So I finished the top  this evening.  I had to sew the last half of the last row with the Singer Featherweight as my Bernina started "acting up"!  Guess she needs to go to the Spa for some R&R.

I made a Peanut Butter Bar Cheesecake this afternoon.  Started at 3PM and put it in the fridge for the night at 8:30.  Just hope it tastes really good.  The recipe was in the May 2013 issue of Good Housekeeping.  Can't wait to take it out of the pan tomorrow!

Quiet Restful Times

Enjoyed my vacation time with Tracey and Molly at Edisto Island.

They were shooting an episode of a new HBO show at the waterfront park in Charleston the day we went.  No we didn't get to be extras!

Lots of time for the beach, pool, miniature golf, and hearing about Molly's summer adventures in France.

Back home - a visit with Emily and Luther.

Pre-Vacation Sewing Fix

Just can't seem to put this in a box for winter sewing.

Last week I had some time to practice on the Crown Jewel that I recently purchased.  I felt comfortable enough after a few days to quilt these little donation quilts in a very simple meander.  I did four but only have the bindings on two.

The sun and the floor don't make for the best pictures but then that is not my forte anyway.

Marcia and Jim came up to the lake Sunday. It was hot but they did get the little boat uncovered and took it out for a little ride. We left late in the evening as they had work and I had Table of Grace Monday.
Looking forward to a little beach time at Edisto with Tracey, Paul and Molly.  I'll be on my way back about the time this posts.
