Quilting X 3

The following are three donation quilts that I quilted and bound this week.  They will go to Pine Tree Quilters for their use in September.

I made all the blocks for the quilt above.

I won these blocks in the block party group last fall.
The block is called cotton candy.

I won most of the blocks for this quilt also - I made a couple extra so that each quilt would be
48 x48" I varied the setting a bit in this one.

Finally a picture of my begonia that I over wintered, almost did in and then revived to a beautiful plant that greets me each time I open my side door.  I had it on the back porch last year.  It's a little messy there as the blossoms shedd a lot.

Catching Up

This is the Indian Beads top that is ready to quilt.  I have been looking for a backing, I have one piece that is large enough but still hope to find one I like better.

Not the best picture but I was on a roll with these blocks that I won at Pine Tree.
I had enough blocks with some I made to make 3 child-size quilt tops.

Made the backings for each of them too.
They are each 48 by 48".

Non quilt sewing!

Our church Community Day is coming up September 7.  The past couple of years a few of our talented crafty, artsy gals have had a Craft Booth.
I was asked to do a sewing evening to make soup bowl cozies.
My practice cozy went pretty well.  We had a good turn out of sewers and helpers.
Another group is making soup to sell!

I have been sewing dog bandanas and soup cozies in my spare time.

Another Quilt Top Finished?

I made backing and bindings for the H Quilt

And for the donation baby quilt.

Then with a little more free time to spare I decided to sew the final blocks of the BH mystery quilt together.  I laid it out on the carpet for a quick picture, folded it up with the intention of making a backing the next morning.

I found 2 or 3 fabrics that would work for the backing and while I was looking for binding fabric ..... I found this, which had slipped off the edge of the machine.  I hadn't even realized I was missing a row in the picture above.
Oh how I hate to think about unsewing  that long seam with all those intersections. Rats!!!!

Two Quilts Finished and an Angel-versary

Yesterday was John's 2nd Angel-versary.  This picture was taken when he was stationed in Okinawa in 1955.  Our grandson, Evan, who is about the same age as John was them, resembles him, especially the smile.  Tonight we are having a family get together to celebrate him and all he meant to us.

Well this is the jelly roll quilt that I made at Pine Tree stay and play earlier this month.  It is 62 x 72" and will go to the Durham Veteran's Hospice Unit.

I quilted and bound this little baby quilt too.  I will take it to the Pine Tree meeting next month for their charitable quilts.

I made a few more colorful blocks to add to this quilt and I think it greatly improves how it looks.  It still needs lots more though.
Tomorrow is Undercover Bee so I can work on more blocks for it then.  The weather guy is predicting a bunch of rain for us so I'd better get out there and get my errands done.

Safe Child Quilts - Heartstrings

I had made lots of these simple  6" blocks a couple of years ago.  I got them out, divided them and made these four quilt tops.

Lots of cute kid prints.

This afternoon I made eight quilt backings from flannel.  I had to add a strip to the width of each piece of fabric as the flannel was only about 41 inches after cutting off the selvage.  I bought the flannel at a great price when Joann's was having a sale so I have no real complaints.

I also finished my Heartstrings top.   The pattern doesn't call for sashing but I needed to incorporate some black so that the border fabric I had bought would work.  I just took a corner picture from the sofa before packing it in my bag.  It is about  63 x 69 inches.  Now I have something new for show and tell at S's house tomorrow.  Looking forward to seeing how S and C are going to finish theirs.
